Holy Girl Autumn

To the Christian who’s in her Sad Girl Autumn phase: I’ve got you. I call it, Holy Girl Autumn.

I love listening to angsty fall vibes. Bring on Evermore and Phoebe, y’all. The mellow guitar strums name the longing feeling of this time of year. I also know that sad songs don’t get the final word. If they are not told from a Christian perspective, they only tell part of the story.

I find that as a Christian, we feel the need to separate everything in our lives. I searched for a playlist that had both: the classic Sad Girl Autumn songs mixed with songs of hope and Christ. I didn’t find one.

So I made one. It’s a playlist of cozy vibes and waiting and watching. It’s a playlist of heartbreak and healing. It’s a playlist for the Christian who loves Noah Kahan and Jesus. Yes, that is possible.

We aren’t called to always separate the sacred and the secular. There is Grace in Everything. We are told to share the gospel in the middle of a Taylor Swift song, and that’s okay.

Here’s your soundtrack for the week: you’re welcome.
